Career Pathways & Exploration (CPE) is OMED’s newest collaborative that will empower undergraduate and graduate students to reach their economic and employment goals while making meaningful connections within transfer, APS, and program cohorts. We encourage students to take risks and stretch their understanding of career and professional growth opportunities, fostering a mindset of exploration and innovation as they navigate their pathways to success.

Reports To: OMED Program and Operations Manager

Job Summary & Functions

  • This position serves as a student assistant to OMED’s Program & Operation Manager in conjunction with the Career Pathways and Exploration Program (CPE).  
  • The holder of the position will provide promotional, administrative, and event support of assigned program. 
  • The candidate must have had a previous co-op or internship experience.
  • To become a role model and a source of information for students.
  • To assist scholars, graduate students, and transfer students in meeting all academic goals deemed necessary by Georgia Tech, OMED, and each student jointly.
  • To positively impact the student’s performance financially, socially, and other areas necessary for success at Georgia Tech.
  • To assist OMED staff in regular office duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to career-related projects and initiatives with OMED that directly impact high priority student populations at-large.   
  • Provide career readiness support and advising to students via OMED Career Pathways & Explorations program.
  • Support OMED student cohorts with career readiness tools, career fair prep, peer mentoring and career prep workshops. 
  • Attend all meetings and activities.
  • Be knowledgeable and adhere to Georgia Tech and OMED policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the coordination, planning, and execution of CPE programs and events.
  • Carry out tasks as outlined by the supervising OMED staff member within the given time period.
  • Maintain continuous communication with supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.           

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least a sophomore with a minimum GPA of 2.8 at the end of the most recently completed semester and make a commitment to earn a semester GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Must be able to commit to both fall and spring semesters.
  • Must be familiar with Georgia Tech’s Honor Code.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or peer mentoring experience.
  • Must be an outgoing and sociable student, creative, success-oriented, strong initiative and desire to assist fellow classmates, enthusiastic, able to function in a TEAM environment, and able to apply full attention on the job during duty hours.

Compensation

$13/hour for 5-10 hours per week
