Heather I. Scott

Associate Director, Engagement & Retention

Dr. Heather Scott, Associate Director of Engagement and Retention, OMED: Educational Services, at Georgia Institute of Technology leads OMED’s high impact engagement programs via OMED’s Study Abroad: Global Immersion and Innovation program to South Africa, data projects and initiatives in support of student academic initiatives, data analysis and reporting. She is also the liaison for OMED collaborative program opportunities and the student ambassador component of the Women of Color Initiative.

Heather has been awarded numerous fellowships to advance research in the areas of inclusive excellence and leadership. She has also held the roles of Associate Professor, earning tenure at Kennesaw State University, and Assistant Dean of Inclusive Leadership at Agnes Scott College. Dr. Scott continues to advance her extensive work in global education equity programming as Founding Program Director of the AGILE-(Advancing Global Inclusive Leadership Education) program, sponsored by Delta Air Lines.

Dr. Scott holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Higher Education Administration from Mercer University, a Master of Education Degree in College Student Affairs Administration from The University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre from Agnes Scott College. She also holds a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace from The University of South Florida and is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach.

Dr. Scott’s research focuses on women and leadership, with lines of inquiry in higher education administration, Black women in the professoriate, global education equity, and the leadership identity development of girls and women. She is the author of several published articles and book chapters on leadership, global education, and higher education. Dr. Scott also serves as Series Editor for SAGE Women and Leadership Business Cases.

Dr. Scott lives by the tenant of leadership is service and is extensively involved in her community as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, The Association of Junior Leagues International Incorporated, and Lead Teen Advisor, Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated Heather is the proud mother to two beautiful and brilliant daughters, whom she delights in raising with her loving husband. They reside in metro Atlanta, Georgia along with their curious yet endearing Yorkshire Terrier.
