Challenge is OMED’s signature bridge program. It is a five-week, intensive program that is held every summer for incoming Georgia Tech freshman. In Challenge, students are immersed in the Georgia Tech environment; they live in a freshman dorm, take classes provided by Georgia Tech professors, and participate in social and academic workshops provided by upper-class Tech students.
Challenge counselors are a significant part of the Challenge program. Challenge counselors reside in the dorms with Challenge participants. Counselors serve as role models, peer mentors, campus success coaches, and assistants to OMED staff throughout the Challenge program.More
The Edge Program is a year-long mentoring program designed to better assist incoming minority freshmen and transfer students to the Georgia Tech environment. This program is designed as an in depth supplemental mentoring program that targets the institute’s underrepresented populations (African American, Hispanic, Native American, and Multiracial.)
This program introduces students to available resources on campus, establishes a network base with returning students, and aids them in achieving their academic goals. The most important component of The Edge program is the connectivity to incoming students by assigning students a trained, qualified, and successful Edge Leader.More
